Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out how this website is used and the basis on which counselling services are offered. They are intended to provide clarity, boundaries, and support informed choice. Counselling is offered in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework.
Counselling Services
Counselling provides a confidential and supportive space to explore personal, emotional, or psychological difficulties. It is a collaborative process and does not involve giving advice, diagnosis, or medical treatment. Counselling is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care. If you are concerned about your health, you are encouraged to contact your GP or another appropriate professional. Nothing on this website creates a therapeutic relationship. A therapeutic relationship begins only when counselling has been formally agreed.
You are welcome to ask questions about the counselling process at any time.
Sessions
Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. Sessions may take place in person or online, depending on what has been agreed in advance. The frequency of sessions is discussed and reviewed as the work progresses.
Fees and Payment
Session fees are agreed in advance and confirmed before counselling begins. Payment is due at or before each session, unless otherwise agreed. Details about payment methods are provided privately and are not published on this website.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, at least 24 hours’ notice is required. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, may be charged in full. Unexpected difficulties that affect attendance can be discussed where appropriate.
Confidentiality
Everything discussed in counselling sessions is treated as confidential. There are important limits to confidentiality. Information may be shared without consent if there is a serious risk of harm to you or to others, if there are safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults, or if disclosure is required by law. Where possible, this would be discussed with you in advance.
Professional supervision is undertaken to support safe and effective practice. Any discussion of client work in supervision is anonymised to protect privacy.
Contact Between Sessions
Contact between sessions is limited to practical or administrative matters such as arranging or changing appointments. Counselling support is not provided by email, message, or phone outside of sessions. Messages are not monitored continuously.
If you are in crisis or need urgent support, please contact your GP, emergency services, or an appropriate crisis support service.
Data Protection and Privacy
Personal data is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Further information about how personal data is collected, stored, and used is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions.
Ending Counselling
You are free to end counselling at any time. Counselling may also be ended if the work is no longer helpful, sessions are repeatedly missed, or it is felt that your needs would be better met by another service. Where possible, this would be discussed openly and handled with care.
Complaints
If you have concerns about the counselling provided, you are encouraged to raise them directly in the first instance. If concerns cannot be resolved, you may follow the complaints procedure of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
