FAQs

  • The first session is a chance to slow things down and get a sense of what’s been going on for you. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping for, if you know.

There’s no pressure to cover everything or say things in a particular way. We’ll go at a pace that feels manageable.

  • Yes. What you share in counselling is confidential.

This means it stays between us and is not shared with others.

  • There are a few limits. Confidentiality may need to be broken if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if required by law.

If this ever became relevant, I would aim to discuss it with you first wherever possible.

  • Fees are £50 per 50 minute session. I also offer discretionary discounts for students and trainees.

If you’re unsure about costs or payment, you’re welcome to ask before booking.

  • That’s very common. You don’t need to arrive with a clear plan or explanation.

We can begin with whatever feels most present, even if that’s just a sense that something isn’t right.

  • No. This service is not designed for emergencies.

If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please contact emergency services or a crisis support line.

  • Sessions last 50 minutes.

Most people meet weekly, especially at the start. This can change over time depending on what feels useful and practical.

  • That’s something we can talk about. Counselling works best when it feels like a good fit.

You’re free to raise concerns, change direction, or stop at any point. There’s no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel right for you.

  • Sessions take place in a private counselling office in Chesterfield. The full address and directions are available on the Contact page.

I also offer online sessions. These are held via a secure video platform and work in much the same way as meeting in person.
